February 25th, 2012 by admin Lyme disease is one of the many diseases that require DNA diagnostics testing. The current form of DNA testing for Lyme disease is complex. This type of testing is called a "DNA nesting" test method. It is also referred as the PCR test method. PCR is short for polymerase chain reaction test method. This method can diagnose Lyme disease by detecting a genomic DNA through the spirochete that causes Lyme disease. This method is not entirely accurate because by the time someone goes through the PCR test; the spirochetes will disappear into the person's system. This means that the PCR test is more likely to show a negative answer. The reason why it takes so long for a PCR test to be conducted in a potential victim is because the potential victim has to undergo a number of other tests prior to the PCR test. Scientists are in the process of improving a DNA diagnostic test for Lyme disease. | |||
